L-W East, L-W North FBLA students attend state conference
The two-day conference included activities in personal development, business and leadership training, election of 2013-2014 state officers, and competitive events.
A group of Lincoln-Way East and Lincoln-Way North high school students participated in a state Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) conference recently where they attended leadership training, elected officers and competed in events.
More than 1,400 students, advisers and guests from 66 Illinois FBLA chapters attended the conference, which was held April 12-13 in Springfield. Several Lincoln-Way students walked away with awards.

“The students presented their projects to members of the business community and received invaluable feedback,” said FBLA sponsor Christine Ahearn who chairs the business and technology department at Lincoln-Way East and Lincoln-Way North.

“This is the largest student organization in the country and offers the students many opportunities to help them succeed in their future,” she added.

Matthew Juskie, Corey Hill, and Shawn MacDougall--2nd Place, Marketing

Sinead Flynn--8th Place, Public Speaking I
Abby Gaza--10th Place, Economics
Lincoln-Way East High School FBLA members won the following events:

Ryan Hesslau – 3rd Place, Business Plan
Robert McIntyre – 4th Place, Sports Management

Lucas Puskaric – 8th Place, Computer Game & Simulation Programming

Lincoln-Way East also had the following members voted to officer positions:

“Denise Budney (the FBLA sponsor at North) and I are so proud of all of the students that competed,” said Ahearn. “They truly represent Lincoln-Way in the highest regard. We are fortunate to have eight students who will represent East and North at the national competition in Anaheim, Calif. from June 26-July 1.”
Those students are Kasper Borys, Robert McIntyre and Michael Mitchell from East and Corey Hill, Matthew Juskie, Thomas Misiaszek, Alex Littleton and Shawn MacDougall from North.
