Rob Zvonar, the head football coach at Lincoln-Way East High School, has been singled out for his leadership skills by the U.S. Marine Corps.
Zvonar, who led the school’s football team to a state runner-up trophy this year, was named Semper Fi Coach of the Year by the U.S. Marine Corps.
The award is presented each year to a coach who models the Marine Corps’ leadership values of Honor, Courage and Commitment.
He was honored at an awards ceremony Feb. 8 in Oak Brook.
“Thank you to the United States Marine Corps and all of our Armed Forces,” Zvonar told the group. “I know I speak on behalf of all the men here today when I say we are forever grateful for the sacrifices you make so that we can enjoy the special freedoms that we have in our great nation.”
