Communitywide Asset Celebration Offers Weekend of Family Fun

Bring the kids and enjoy a morning of games, crafts and live entertainment with a Dr. Seuss theme.

Area residents are invited to a weekend of family fun March 9 and 10 at a communitywide Asset Celebration at Lincoln-Way Central and high schools.

Lincoln-Way High School District 210 is teaming up with religious groups and park districts from the Lincoln-Way area to offer programs and entertainment for youths of all ages.

“It is important to all of us that our young people grow into productive citizens,” said Superintendent Lawrence A. Wyllie. “The asset program is one way to help make that happen. I want to thank our entire community for supporting this program.”

Lincoln-Way area religious groups will serve up complimentary hotcakes in the school cafeteria until 10 a.m. that day. Donations will be accepted to cover food expenses.

The festivities will continue with a Family Faire, sponsored by Lincoln-Way area park districts, in the Lincoln-Way East High School gymnasium. Visitors will find children’s games, crafts and live entertainment with a Dr. Seuss theme from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Entrance is free, but children are asked to bring a small new toy (such as a Happy Meal toy) to donate to The Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation. The toys are used to provide comfort and distraction from painful procedures to children and teens who have been diagnosed with cancer.
