Cast and Crew of L-W East's Contest Play Bring Home Conference Plaque
The cast and crew of Lincoln-Way East High School's Contest Play are celebrating a big win after capturing three straight superior rankings from judges and bringing home a conference plaque.
The cast and crew of ’s Contest Play are celebrating a big win after capturing three straight superior rankings from judges and bringing home a conference plaque.
“This is a huge accomplishment for the cast and crew,” said Lincoln-Way East teacher and Theatre Company director Hilary Gansauer. “It’s the first superior award we’ve received at conference.”
In order to win a conference plaque, students must win at least two superior rankings from three judges. Lincoln-Way East students received superior rankings from all three judges.

Only one other school--Homewood Flossmoor--received three superior rankings from judges. All other schools received a ranking of “good” or “excellent.”
Members of East’s “superior” cast and crew are: Jaclyn Villasenor, Peyton Young, Patrick Walsh, Sean Sheetz, Maria Welser, Nicki Perry, Allison Rymut, Mateusz Werning, Frank Lewandowski, Daniel Searcy, Sean Gallagher, Steven Cap, Paige Turner, Greg Alberts, Jacob Pieczynski, Luke Schmitt, Moira Thompson, Jack McGrath, Mike Deacon and Matt Schlott.

Four of the cast members, Nicki Perry, Maria Welser, Peyton Young and Jaclyn Villasenor, were singled out for their exceptional performances at the competition and named All-Conference.
They will go on to compete at sectionals this weekend at Thornton High School. The two top schools from that competition will advance to State.
“We are in an extremely difficult sectional,” said Gansauer, “but we’re ready to do our best.”
