Frankfort resident Dennis Sidler has been selling autographed sports memorabilia since 1999.
On Saturday, he’s opening SidsGraphs, his first ever storefront, in the former home of White Street Gallery and Framing at 11 S. White Street.
“I’ve always wanted this location,” said Sidler. “It’s a small store, but it’s perfect for us.”
Sidler specializes in Chicago items signed by current stars and Hall of Fame inductees. Available items include pictures, balls, helmets and pucks, which range in price from $5-$1,000. His shop will also sell gift wear that is not autographed, to be purchased prior to signings.
Former Blackhawks center Stan Mikita signs material exclusively for SidsGraphs, as do 23 major and minor league baseball players. In November, Sidler will facilitate a private signing with Chicago Hall of Famers Mike Singletary and Mike Ditka, for which he will take in customer items to be autographed.
Sidler plans to begin hosting Chicago players from the Blackhawks and the Bears for in-store signings in the near future. White Sox pitcher Chris Sale is scheduled to make an appearance in April.
Sidler hopes that hosting events will attract autograph enthusiasts and collectors to downtown Frankfort, bringing customers to surrounding businesses, as well as his own.
“I think it will add to our downtown,” said Frankfort Mayor Jim Holland.
Holland said that SidsGraphs will add variety to downtown Frankfort, which is primarily comprised of boutiques and restaurants.
Sidler also supplies items for silent auction to many charities on a consignment basis. He has contributed auction items to benefits for Frankfort School District 157-C, the Mokena Burros, the Frankfort Falcons and the Frankfort Square Baseball League, which SidsGraphs also sponsors.
“This store brings something that’s important to our community,” said Holland, in reference to Sidler’s work with local fundraisers.
