Two new restaurants and a medical office are underway on the northeast corner of LaGrange Road.
Jersey Mike's Subs and Noodles & Company are slated to be completed by the spring, said Zach Brown, Frankfort's planning and building supervisor. "That's exciting to have a couple of national tenants coming to town," he said.
Since the success of Mariano's Fresh Market, 21001 S. LaGrange Road, in March, there has been an increased interest in Frankfort from developers and business owners. Another factor that makes Frankfort as well as New Lenox more attractive to fresh commercial ventures is the nearly completed Route 30 improvement project, said Brown.
Business owners and developers won't be saddled with the high cost of infrastructure improvements, because the state already has added the necessary water mains and the like. The landscaping along the berms also works to make the whole area more attractive to the eye, added Brown.
Another project with major tenant, Panda Express, a popular Chinese restaurant chain, has been postponed, said Brown. While they're still planning to set up shop in one of the outlets in the Jewel Osco-anchored commercial center, 21164 S. LaGrange Road, corporate officials have notified the village that the project is on hold.
And while rumors continue to spread about a new and improved version of the beloved Enrico's Restaurant, no firm deal has been put before the village, according to Brown. Enrico's closed its doors in August 2012.
