Frankfort Board Supports 'Shop Small Business Saturday'

The Frankfort Village Board voiced its support for small local businesses.

"Small, independent businesses have long been a vital part of Frankfort's economomy and the (Frankfort Historic Business Association) would like to recognize their contribution to the community and encourage Frankfort residents to support their local businesses by raising awareness through the Small Business Saturday campaign," Mayor Jim Holland said in a report to the board.

"The Frankfort Historic Business Association is partnering with American Express to promote the Saturday after Thanksgiving as a day to shop small and shop local," Holland said in his report.

"The trustees and I support this campaign and encourage our residents to do their holiday gift buying in Frankfort," the mayor's report said.

During its meeting Monday night, the village board proclaimed Nov. 30 Shop Small Business Saturday.
