Downtown Frankfort Restaurant Can Sell Beer To-Go

The Frankfort Village Board signed off on letting a downtown restaurant sell sealed containers of take-out beer.

The Frankfort Village Board gave the green light to the mayor's idea to change a downtown restaurant's liquor license so it can sell take-out beer.

Mayor Jim Holland said the management of the Smokey Barque wants to sell sealed growlers of its special draft beer.

The allowance to sell to-go growlers will be "severely limited," Holland said, and the village is not going to allow restaurants to deal in packaged liquor.

Smokey Barque opened on Kansas Street in 2011.
