Docs that Serve Pro-Sports Teams Add Acupuncture

One Frankfort chiropractic practice has joined 21st century sports and spine rehabilitation with the ancient art of acupuncture.

Sports & Spine Chiropractic, 39 W. Bankview Drive, recently welcomed Dr. Coleen Fazio, an acupuncture specialist, to the practice.

Dr. Aaron Wolfe and Dr. Bradley Katzmann of Sports & Spine Chiropractic, specialize in sports and spine rehabilitative exercises, wellness and nutrition and weight loss. Sports and Spine has specialized in wellness care for infants, children and adults since 1995.

Fazio comes to Frankfort from Synergy Institute in Naperville, and prior to that she was employed with Total Life Chiropractic in Willow Springs. She earned a doctorate of chiropractic degree from Palmer College, Florida Campus, and a bachelor of science, biology degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Memphis. She also holds certification in acupuncture from the National University of Health Services.

Fazio’s experience in treatment using acupuncture will be a welcome addition to the Lincoln-Way community.  According to the Mayo Clinic, acupuncture involves the insertion of extremely thin needles through your skin at strategic points on your body. A key component of traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture is most commonly used to treat pain. Traditional Chinese medicine explains acupuncture as a technique for balancing the flow of energy or life force, known as qi or chi, believed to flow through pathways (meridians) in your body.

By inserting needles into specific points along these meridians, acupuncture practitioners believe that your energy flow will re-balance. Fazio’s acupuncture treatment will be a good compliment to the chiropractic and massage therapy treatments currently used at Sports & Spine Chiropractic, agreed Wolfe and Katzmann.

Wolfe and Katzmann have a long history of treating professional and elite athletes. They are the team chiropractors for the Chicago Fire Major League Soccer team and have also served as official chiropractors for the Joliet Slammers Frontier Baseball League and the AVP Pro Beach Volleyball Tour. Wolfe has his Level 1 Certificate in the fast growing CrossFit Sport.

For 15 years, Wolfe has been an athletic Trainer for the Lincoln-Way High School District.  He currently serves as the sports medicine advisor for Lincoln-Way High School District 210. Wolfe was also selected to serve as chiropractor at the U.S. Olympics Training Center in 2005.  After the Sept. 11, 2001 tragedy, Wolfe served as a chiropractor for the New York City Incident Response at Ground Zero.

Katzmann is the coach and team doctor for the Mokena Junior Griffins football team and the Lincoln-Way Lacrosse Club. For more information, visit Sports & Spine Chiropractic on Facebook.
