Caring 4 Kids Daycare Teaches Indoors and Outdoors

Robert and Emily Cunningham, owners of Caring 4 Kids Daycare, believe day care is a place to learn and have fun.

Frankfort's Caring 4 Kids is a daycare facility designed to keep the whole child in mind. The 2,500-square-foot facility tucked away at 61 Kaffel Court right at the nub end of Elwood Street is a friendly place that welcomes youngsters from 15-months through 4th grade.

With plenty of different rooms separated to accommodate age-appropriate activities, the staff at Caring 4 Kids Daycare creates lesson plans and activities that engage, entice and stir the imaginations of a variety of ages. For the older set, a daylong outing to see a baseball game might be on the agenda. For preschoolers, a tour to the Frankfort Fire Protection District Fire House would capture their imagination, said Bob Cunningham, who together with wife Emily, own the facility in the heart of downtown Frankfort. Recently, a soccer instructor spent an afternoon working with the kids.

The daycare has a full-time staff of eight teachers, each of whom is certified to serve as a daycare director, according to Cunningham. At the same time, each staff member is certified in pediatric First Aide.   In total, boasts Cunningham, the staff has over 100 years combined experience in child care.

While activities updates will soon be delivered with bi-weekly progress reports to parents, Cunningham said Caring 4 Kids is designed to promote social development skills, athletics and fitness and homework support during the school year.

Those aspects might get a high grade from parents, but Cunningham knows that a good facility has to serve the kids in ways that appeal to them. "We have flat screen TVs" that are used appropriately, and Knook tablets when it comes time to get quiet and cozy-up with a story. The playground has climbing apparatus and more.

The inspiration behind Caring 4 Kids is the couple's 3-year-old daughter Katie. "We wanted to create a place that had everything we'd want for our daughter," he said.

Coming Soon to Caring 4 Kids

The facility has plans in the fall to begin offering a kindergarten program.
