Business Comings & Goings: Fringe Boutique Thrives in Downtown Frankfort

Fuller's Car Wash is expanding and remodeling the car wash and adjoining oil change facility on LaGrange Road in Mokena.

Fringe Boutique owner Tracy Inwood says business has never been better than since she moved the women’s clothing and accessories store over the summer from its original home on La Grange Road to downtown Frankfort.

“The atmosphere downtown is great,” she said. “Everything is going a lot better. The walk-ins are great. I didn’t get a lot of walk-ins at the other location.”

Inwood moved from The Vineyards shopping center over the Fourth of July holiday and opened The Fringe in its next location at 27 Ash St. on July 5.

Inwood also likes the activities downtown Frankfort offers.

“I was one of the stops on Sunday’s Wined-Ing Through Historic Frankfort,” she said. “We had a wine tasting.”

Brookside Marketplace Expansion

DDR Corp., which purchased Brookside Marketplace at 191st Street and Harlem Avenue in Tinley Park earlier this year, has proposed adding a 23,344-square-foot free-standing building for an unnamed nationally known retailer.

The development would be built between the Best Buy parking lot and a small strip of stores to the south.

It would be the first new development by DDR and the first for the shopping center since an expansion last year opened up space for Old Navy, Home Goods and Five Below.
