Area Restaurants Offer Thanksgiving Dining

No plans for Turkey Day at home? Try these Frankfort and New Lenox establishments instead.

If you want someone else to do the cooking (and cleaning up) this Thanksgiving, you'll be happy to know you have options Thursday in Frankfort and New Lenox that offer traditional turkey meals and a few surprises.

If you don't want to prepare a meal at home and want to go to a restaurant, , 201 E. Maple St., New Lenox, is offering a Thanksgiving buffet from 11 a.m.-6:30 p.m. (reservations are accepted up to 4:30 p.m.). The buffet is $24.95 for adults and $12.50 for children, and it features various salads, a meat carving station, and Thanksgiving-themed entrees and sides. There's also pecan and pumpkin pie. , 20 Kansas St., Frankfort, will offer a Thanksgiving feast noon-6 p.m.  A family-style turkey dinner with all the traditional trimmings and more will be available for $19.95 for adults and $12.95 for children under 12. Kids younger than 4 eat free. Guests also can choose from a special menu including a turkey dinner, baked ham and sweet potatoes, rack of lamb or roast lamb and a variety of steaks, seafood, and pastas. Dinners come with soup or salad, potato and vegetable. Pumpkin pie and other desserts can top off your meal. Reservations are recommended. 815-464-2685.

A traditional turkey dinner can be ordered at , 679 N. LaGrange Road, but the German-themed restaurant also will feature a Swiss favorite, Zuricher Geschnetzeltes, a veal dish. Prime rib, lamb shank, crusted grouper, venison medallions and baked ham are special menu items. The restaurant will be open 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Call 815-469-0940.

Pumpkin pancakes are the holiday special at , 20594 S. LaGrange Road, Frankfort. The usual hearty breakfast, brunch or lunch fare will be available from 6 a.m.-1 p.m. Call 815-469-7530.

, 20091 S. LaGrange Road, Frankfort, will be open 7 a.m.-1 a.m. Holiday shakes, including white chocolate, egg nog, and peppermint chocolate chip, will get you in the mood for Black Friday shopping. Call 815-806-9564.

FREE MEAL

 with all the trimmings will be offered at noon at , 1900 E. Lincoln Hwy, New Lenox. Come if you are alone for the holiday, are new to the area or would like to spend the day with others. Call the church at 815-485-5327 today to reserve a spot. Just tell us how many adults and children are coming. Transportation is available. Dinners are available for the homebound. A brief worship service at 11:30 a.m. will precede the dinner.

PRE-THANKSGIVING drinks

If you want to celebrate Black Wednesday, a popular bar night before Thanksgiving, try Tom Kelly's drink specials at 495 Degroate Road, New Lenox, featuring $3 23-ounce domestic drafts and live music.

Before you spend Thanksgiving with the family, enjoy the night before with friends. Chicago area classic rock cover band Scarecrow's Grin will perform starting at 8 p.m. at , 19917 S. LaGrange Road, Frankfort. DJ Murph also will be on hand from 10 p.m. until close. 

GROCERY NEEDS

If you need any last-minute items from the grocery store, , 501 E. Lincoln Hwy, is open 24 hours,  locations are open 6 a.m.-4 p.m. and , 2141 Calistoga Drive, is open from 7 a.m.-3 p.m. Kmart is also open from 6 a.m.-9 p.m.
