Providence Theatre Club to present Thoroughly Modern Millie

Providence will put on four performances of the high-spirited musical.

From Providence Catholic High School:

The Providence Catholic High School Theatre Club will perform Thoroughly Modern Millie Feb. 27 through March 2 at Billie Limacher Bicentennial Theatre in Joliet.

Performances begin at 7 p.m. the first three nights and there will be a 3 p.m. matinee for the last show on a Sunday.

Thoroughly Modern Millie
 takes place in New York City in 1922. The high-spirited musical and tells the story of young Millie Dillmount who moved to the city in search of a new life for herself.

It’s a New York full of intrigue and jazz; a time when women were entering the workforce and the rules of love and social behavior were changing forever.

Based on the popular movie, the stage version of Thoroughly Modern Millie includes a full score of new songs and bright dance numbers that has all of New York dancing the Charleston.

The musical is directed by Michele Urda; Mrs. Ann Waldron, music director; Eric Moniger, technical director; Rosario Knezz, choreographer, Alice Hartel, costume director and Sandra Krejci, production manager.
