Frankfort filmmaker Gives Area Sneak Peek at his New Comedy

More than 300 movie-goers attend the Orland Park screening of Robert Alaniz's fifth film, 'D.I.N.K.s.'

Frankfort filmmaker Robert Alaniz might have four movies under his belt, but that doesn't make first screenings any less anxiety-filled.

"It's exciting because it's a new genre for me," said Alaniz of his new movie D.I.N.K.s, which marks the director's first comedy. "I'm filled with more anticipation and butterflies than the other movies."

Alaniz and the cast of D.I.N.K.s—along with about 300 other movie-goers—were on hand Thursday night for a special sneak peak of the film at Orland Park Cinema. People who helped out and donated to the film were given special invitations to the screening, and a limited number of tickets were available to the public.

D.I.N.K.s looks at the difficulties a child-free couple runs into as they try to find their niche in a town of proud parents. The movie was shot throughout Orland Park, and scenes were filmed at Down Home Guitars and Empire Books in Frankfort.

For many of the film's participants, it was the first time seeing the finished product on the big screen.

"I'm a little nervous because no one's seen it before," said Jayson Bernard, a Chicago actor who stars in the film. "There's a little apprehension. It's like Christmas, buying a gift for your new mother-in-law."

"There's a little bit of excitement about how everyone's going to react to it," said Devorah Richards, who also acts in D.I.N.K.s.

Although Thursday's event was the first screening for the movie, the big premiere will be March 25 at the Portage Theater in Chicago. Tickets for the event can be ordered here.
