White Wedding on Black Friday

Edward Kossman and Jennifer Jasudowicz met six years ago on Black Friday at Orland Square Mall. The couple married at the same spot they met on this year's Black Friday, Nov. 25.

Black Friday is a door-busting, deal-making shoppers holiday that sees millions upon millions of Americans rush stocked shelves in an effort to take home the best bargain — and this year was no different.

There was a twist on this year's Black Friday activities at , though, as Edward Kossman and Jennifer Jasudowicz of Burbank tied the knot on the second floor of the shopping mall, taking each other as husband and wife before family, friends and shoppers.

The couple, , said the unusual locale was the perfect spot to seal their love.

“I'm very, very, very happy and I'm just glad we made it, especially here of all places," Jasudowicz said.

"This was incredible, to come back here where we met and do our vows, to do our ceremony, it means everything to me, and I know it does to Jennifer, too," Kossman said.

Gail Gleespen, director of marketing and business development at , said the request to have a wedding at the mall was unusual, but the mall management felt privileged to host the special event.

“We're so very honored to be a part of this," Gleespen said. "This is what we do, we're a community mall. We're smack dab in the community, and it's all about coming together and we're so glad to be a part of this."

As the small ceremony kicked off Friday at about 3 p.m., Kossman stood with Rev. Anne Styx and his groomsmen, awaiting his bride. With a crowd already gathered to see the ceremony, the elevator directly opposite the groomsmen opened with a bing and out poured the bridal party, decked in red and carrying flowers leading the way for Jasudowicz, dressed in a slim, white wedding dress and veil.

“I was really nervous when we first started, but then when the elevator door opened up and I saw the wedding party and my beautiful bride walk out, everyone else just disappeared," Kossman said. "She was the only one, it seemed like she was the only one here with me and that's all that mattered."

With cameras flashing and the crowd swelling, Styx performed the brief ceremony for the two lovebirds that ended just as all weddings do, with the bride and groom sharing a kiss before the crowd.

The newlyweds took time after the wedding to pose for pictures in their unique venue before being whisked away for the reception and a new life together. Both said this is “only the beginning” of their lives together.

As for if there was any shopping on Black Friday for the couple, Jasudowicz had an answer.

“No, I wish, I wish,” she said with a laugh. “I'll just do some online shopping."
