VIDEO: Local Girl Scouts Celebrate 100 Years With Circle on the Green

Mayor Jim Holland declared Monday Girl Scout Day as members honored the group's anniversary with an event on Breidert Green.

Hundreds of Girl Scouts from troops in Frankfort came together Monday, March 12, on to celebrate the national organization's 100th anniversary with songs and a promise circle.

Before the festivities began, Mayor Jim Holland delivered a proclamation declaring it Girl Scout Day and then participated in the promise circle, which had girls and their families gather around the green, holding hands. 

The event was part of a national celebration in honor of the first Girl Scout meeting, held by Juliette Gordon Low in Savannah, Ga., in 1912.
