U.S. 30 Update: Construction to Close Part of Harlem Avenue

The road will be closed for 11 days starting next week as construction crews continue the U.S. Route 30 widening project, IDOT says.

Harlem Avenue, just south of U.S. Route 30, will be closed for about 11 days starting Monday, Aug. 8, as part of , according to the Illinois Department of Transportation.

A detour will be set up as construction crews will be working on a box culvert across Harlem, an IDOT press release said. Traffic will be sent east on Route 30 to Ridgeland Avenue to reach Harlem via Steger Road. Drivers still will be able to access Harlem Avenue south of the work area from Sauk Trail. 

Harlem Avenue is scheduled to reopen Aug. 19, according to the release.
