Sweet Dreams Brings "Halloween Hysteria" to Frankfort

The bakery will offer seasonal desserts and games at this weekend's holiday event.

Sweet Dreams Cakes will host a sugary and spooky holiday event, this Saturday.

“We’ll be Halloweened out,” said Candace Tomas, who is the co-general manager of Sweet Dreams.

The bakery will offer free candy and mini cupcakes to patrons. They’ll also be taking pre-orders for Halloween and serving up seasonal sweets, including brownies crawling with gummy worms, edible skull cupcake toppers and Halloween-themed sugar cookies.

Sweet Dreams staff members will wear costumes, and Halloween music and decorations will set a ghostly mood in the bakery.

Outside Sweet Dreams, game tents will be set up where customers can compete in activities such as “pin the bowtie on Mr. Bones,” a mummy wrap contest and a scary egg race. The bakery will also offer face painting and will host two separate costume contests — one at noon and another at 2 p.m. Contestants must be present to win.

Members of the Frankfort Area Jaycees will be in attendance to assist with games and chat with customers about community volunteer opportunities. Sweet Dreams will distribute coupons for the Jaycees’ “Frankfort Psychiatric Asylum” haunted house, which is open Saturday night.

“We’re just trying to help those small businesses,” said Jaycee member Paige Lenz.

Halloween has a special significance for the staff of Sweet Dreams. The holiday is also owner Vicki O’Bryant’s birthday.

However, Tomas says the bakery will host seasonal events for other major holidays as well.

“We just like to have a reason to throw a party,” she said.

Halloween Hysteria takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. Sweet Dreams Cakes is located at 7956 W. Lincoln Hwy in Frankfort.
