ShareFest 2013: Service Projects Completed for Elderly and Disabled

At the heart of ShareFest 2013 are the service projects conducted around the community for the elderly and disabled.

The ShareFest 2013 volunteers that focused on service projects for the elderly and disabled in the community were more than willing to dig in Sept. 14 and do the heavy lifting that many cannot accomplish themselves.

Marc Papas, coordinator for Saturday's ShareFest 2013 Service Projects program, spent the day making sure his eight teams had the tools, equipment and supplies they needed to perform variety of household repairs and yard work for those who cannot do the tasks themselves.

About eight teams and more than 100 volunteers spread out throughout the community and worked hard to complete jobs both big and small. From trimming back overgrown bushes, cleaning gutters, cutting down tree branches and painting the interior and exterior of homes that needed some tender love and care, they were paid with smiles and sincere gratitude.

While the main event for ShareFest 2013 was completed Saturday, various aspects of the program will continue throughout the month of September. Food, clothes and household goods collections are still underway. For more information about drop-off and collections, visit the ShareFest 2013 website.
