PHOTO GALLERY: Pie-Eaters Taste Thrill of Competition at Ice Cream Social

Residents came out for frosty treats at this seventh annual event, but stayed to watch the PieLympics competition.

and the Frankfort Preservation Foundation held its seventh annual Ice Cream Social at the . Ice cream sundaes were served, games were played, and the annual PieLympics were staged.

First-place honors in the 10-and-younger category of the pie-eating event went to Sam Rudy, and Madi Herder----won in the 11- to 14-year-old division.

Jack Ritchey won in the older-than-18 competition. Alan Heath initially protested Ritchey's win, but eventually accepted second place honorably in his headgear and bath robe. He declared himself the winner next year over John Herder, who was in Minnesota for a Joliet American Legion Band concert.

Sisters Jessie and Hannah Herder competed in the 15-18 contest, but no winner was announced. 

Prizes included many napkins, root beer, ice cream coupons for and pie coupons from .
