New Mokena Parks Building Opened Monday

The Kiddie Kapers pre-school students helped cut the ribbon for the new 4,300 square-foot program center Monday morning.

Mokena’s new Park District Program Center opened Monday morning on the south end of the Main Park.

Several 3 and 4-year-old students in the Kiddie Kapers program cut the ribbon for the building that will now hold their classes, as well as other park district programs including kids dance, karate and fitness classes. The 4,300 square-foot building features classrooms and a wood floor dance room with barres, mirrors and a sound system.

The previous building used has a second floor with stairs leading up, and was not fully handicap-accessible, said Mokena Park District Executive Director Jim Romanek.
