Mokena Woman Sues Electrolux, Blames Clothes Dryer For Apartment Fire

A Mokena woman claims a defective clothes dryer caused a fire in her apartment.

A defective clothes dryer started a fire in a Mokena woman's apartment, according to a lawsuit filed in Will County court.

Sandra Angelo is suing Electrolux, alleging the corporate appliance giant is to blame for the Valentine's Day 2012 fire at her 116th Avenue apartment.

The Electrolux dryer installed in Angelo's apartment was "defective and unreasonably dangerous," the lawsuit said. It allegedly was "made of inferior material," "improperly manufactured and fabricated" and "unreasonably susceptible to catching fire."

State Farm paid Angelo $36,528.39 for the damage to her property, the suit said, and the insurance company is suing on her behalf to get the money out of Electrolux. State Farm also wants to get Angelo's $500 paid back to her by Electrolux, the suit said.
