Mokena Closings: What’s Shut Down Tuesday

With record colds in double digits below zero Monday, and frigid weather continuing Tuesday, schools in town are also closed Tuesday.

The deep freeze is continuing on Tuesday.

After record breaking -15 degrees weather, with wind chills between 40 and 50 degrees below zero, on Monday, we’re in for some more frigid weather Tuesday. Temperatures are expected to climb back above zero but only to a high of 1 to 5 degrees with wind chill still around 40 degrees below.

The following places will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 6 in and near Mokena:

Schools

Lincoln-Way Community High School District 210—All four Lincoln-Way high schools will be closed Tuesday, as a result of the frigid weather.

Mokena School District 159—All 159 schools will be closed Tuesday.

Summit Hill School District 161—All 161 schools also will be closed Tuesday.

The following schools and programs also will be cancelled Tuesday.

  • Immanuel Lutheran Preschool
  • Mokena Montessori
  • Mokena Park District Preschool
  • Noonan Elementary Academy
  • St. Mary School
  • St. Mary Religious Education

 

Village Updates

NuWay Disposal has moved back trash pick up back to Wednesday due to the weather. Christmas trees will be picked up on Wednesday as well.

Village offices are currently scheduled to be open Tuesday.
