Fans of chili, amateur chefs, and supporters of high school athletics are all invited to the Sixth Annual Lincoln-Way North Athletic Boosters Chili Cook Off.
The event, which is slated from 11:30 a.m.-2
p.m. Oct. 26, will be held in the cafeteria at Lincoln-Way
North High School, 19900 S. Harlem Ave. in Frankfort.
Attendees will receive 10 tasting tickets for $5, which can be exchanged for samples of chili from participants who will showcase their special recipes and compete for cash prizes and bragging rights.
A committee of "Official Chili Judges" made up of local dignitaries will vote on the various chili choices. First, second, and third-place winners will be named and will receive $100, $50 or $25.
"There also will be a Chili Gold Champion prize awarded to the winner of the People's Choice competition, which will be voted on by all attendees," stated Karen Town, L-W North Athletic Booster event chair.
People interested in competing in the Chili Cook Off can download the registration form here.
The entry fee is $20, if submitted before Oct. 15. Entrants who submit their forms by Oct. 1 will have their registration fee returned to them when they arrive at the event. Entries will be accepted until Oct. 19, according to a press release.
The event is sponsored by the Lincoln-Way North Athletic Boosters, and all proceeds will support sports activities at the high school.
