Bring your own rod to the catch-and-release derby set for June 28.

The Village of Frankfort will hold its 11th  annual “Get Hooked on Frankfort” Fishing Derby for youngsters age 3 to 12.  This annual event will be held on Saturday, June 28 at the Frankfort Prairie Park located one block east of White Street on the Old Plank Road Trail bike path.

Children age 3 to 7 will fish from 8:00 AM to 8:45 AM and ages 8-12 will fish from 9:30 AM to 10:15 AM.  Prizes will be awarded after each group completes fishing for the most fish caught and the biggest fish caught in each age bracket.  The derby is a 100 percent catch and release derby. Registration is limited and participants are encouraged to register early for this popular event.

“This annual event has become a favorite in the Frankfort community.  Families enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Prairie Park and the youngsters have a great time fishing.  We encourage all our participants to enjoy the rest of the day in our downtown district, either having lunch or shopping,” said Mayor Jim Holland.
