Over the past decade, it has become a tradition in the Southland and across the country to honor servicemen and women with a homecoming celebration when they return from a tour of duty.
However, not all veterans have been lucky to return home to receive that kind of welcome.
On Memorial Day, the country observes the sacrifices veterans have made over the years. Patch wants to know how readers honor those sacrifices on this holiday, as well as give them the chance to recognize their invaluable service to the country.
Share your thoughts about Memorial Day and tell the community about those men and women who've served through the years and given everything for it. You also can upload photos of family members and friends who were part of the armed services and tell a little bit about why you're proud of them.
Here's your chance to thank those veterans for their sacrifice and remind everyone how important they are to the country.
