Frankfort Firefighters Working to Raise Funds for Burn Camp and More

Ryan Brosseau, a Frankfort firefighter, along with a committee of charity-minded firefighters is coordinating a football sweepstakes game to score dollars for needy organizations.

Historically the firefighters here have reached out to help one organization or another. Now they're working to generate funds for five groups:

• Illinois Burn Camp (Camp I Am Me,) which is held annually near Fox Lake in Lake County for children who have been victims of fires

• The Muscular Dystrophy Association

• The International Association of Fire Fighters Charitable Foundation

• The Autism Society of America

•  The American Cancer Society

The fundraiser, FootballMania, is being facilitated through a professional fund-raising group, Charity Studio, according to Brosseau.

"For $20 you get music and book downloads at www.charitystudio.com and an exciting, complimentary FootballMania sweepstakes game card," said Brosseau. A total of $14 out of every $20 goes to charity. Check out the Frankfort Firefighters website for further FootballMania sweepstakes details.

Neither the Frankfort Firefighters nor the Firefighters Union will profit in any way from the program. "One hundred percent of the profit goes to charity," he said. 

Speaking of the fund-raising committee, Brosseau said, "We looked around. We're pretty fortunate here in Frankfort, Mokena and New Lenox. We just thought it was time to give back. These organizations are the ones that we all decided on. Everyone had input, he said. For some, it was for personal reasons. 

"All of us at some point in our lives have or will be affected by one of these illnesses, and the more money we can all raise to help with research, testing and family support the better off we will all be," said Brosseau.
