Everyone has their own ways to mark the changing seasons, especially when it comes to the switch from winter to spring. For some, it's the first robin. Others, it's the beginning of baseball season.
For some Frankfort residents, it's the opening of the Country Market, and for them, that means spring arrives Sunday, April 29.
Here's your quick guide to what's new this year.
When will it be open
The market runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. until Oct. 28.
This year's biggest change
Traditionally, the Country Market has been in the parking lot and along Oak Street. But this year, the village has renovated the Fra-Milco Cabinet Co. parking lot on Oak Street and will have vendors set up there, as well.
The following is a list of new vendors at the market this year.
PLANTS AND PRODUCE
What you can buy there: Perennials, shrubs, grasses
What you can buy there: Bedding plants, flower pots, perennials, variety of produce
What you can buy there: A variety of Italian food options, including infused Italian olive oils, balsamic fruit vinegars, soup and dip mixes.
What you can buy there: The downtown Frankfort pet store will have its own booth, selling all-natural dog and cat foods and products.
Fruit Blend Smoothies
What you can buy there: Fruit smoothies, fruit juices, ice drinks.
What you can buy there: Shiskabob-style appetizers
Katie’s Passion Kitchen
Whagt you can buy there: Bruschetta, biscotti
What you can buy there: The Trolley Barn sweet shop will be selling its kettle corn, cotton candy and other sweets.
Mr. Spanky’s Farm Fresh Artisan Foods
What you can buy there: A wide variety of unique foods, such as applewood smoked bacon, hummus, root beer baked beans and more.
The Waffle Hut
What you can buy there: You have three guesses and the first two better be homemade waffles.
What you can buy there: Boked goods such as cupcakes, cookies and more. The vendor also offers some low-fat and gluten-free options.
Starting May 13, the market will begin a series of 45- to 60-minute cooking seminars along Oak Street. In the summer, there also will be the Munchkin Market, which will feature activities for kids.
