Family, Friends Send Off Frankfort Soldier in Style (Video)
Greg Prunsky, a student at Western Illinois University, was surprised by the village fire protection district, Soldiers Guardian Angels and Warrior Watch Riders at VFW Post 1493.
Bittersweet was the best way to describe the scene at on the evening of Monday, July 30. When soon-to-be-deployed U.S. Army National Guard reservist Greg Prunsky and his parents pulled into the post's parking lot, they were greeted by friends and family lined up with flags cheering.
Prunsky, a native, shook hands with the members of the Soldiers Guardian Angels and Warrior Watch Riders that helped organize the event before the rally began.
"The support out here is outstanding," said Prunsky, a Western Illinois University student majoring in law enforcement who joined the National Guard in 2008. He's part of a military police unit based at Fort Sheridan.
