Got plans? We do! This Friday is Midnight Madness in Frankfort (sponsored by the Frankfort Chamber of Commerce), and for the historic district merchants, this is a huge night! For many shoppers, it’s an annual December tradition not to be missed, regardless of the weather. Friends make it a Girls Night Out. Mothers, daughters and grandmothers team up for a multi-generational shop-a-thon. Couples sneak away from the house for a night to grab dinner in town and a little alone time before the full insanity of the holidays hit. And as merchants, we love being a part of those traditions, as well as meeting new faces that we know we’ll see again next year (and hopefully throughout the year!).
What’s even more exciting is that as our Frankfort Historic Business Association (FHBA) continues to strengthen its communication and event organization efforts, we’re seeing some of our own traditions resurfacing. Back in the day, shoppers in pajamas were not uncommon during Midnight Madness because many businesses gave additional discounts to these festive guests. Over time, though, as shops came and went, that custom almost completely disappeared, with Chew on This Dog Barkery being the primary promoter of this festive and fun twist. However, this year we’re happy to say that other shops are jumping back on board.
In addition to Chew on This Dog Barkery’s jammie discount, we’ll be giving a free gift with purchase if you come shop in your pajamas at This & That Gifts. FHBA newcomer Cathie Shaffer of Bijoux Bridal at 100 W. Kansas will be offering 10% off a $25 purchase to any shopper in pajamas or a bridal veil, and Cathie has more than just bridal accessories in her shop so do stop in! Upstairs in the Trolley Barn, Eclectic Attic will give PJ-wearing shoppers an extra 5% off your purchase. And while you don’t have to be in your pajamas, D’Marie Salon is offering complimentary make up and hair style touch ups, along with chair massages and hand treatments, from 6-8 p.m. so that you can shop ‘til you drop and look and feel fantastic all night long.
