The Lincolnway Special Recreation Association is holding an adaptive sports basketball tournament this weekend, titled the 2012 Tournament of Champions.

To take place at Lincoln-Way West, this is the third annual competition for individuals with physical disabilities hosted by LWSRA. This event is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. and will run until 5 p.m.. The tournament will include four divisions of play; including Prep, Junior Varsity, Varsity, and Adults.

The Tournament of Champions will see 14 teams play on three courts for a chance to achieve victory. LWSRA will be unveiling their brand new all female wheelchair basketball squad, called the Lady Flames.

Participating teams include RIC Hornets of Chicago, Chicago Fire of Dolton, Waukesha Thunder, RIC Sky of Chicago, the Rockford Jr. Chariots, the Layfette Spinners, the Jr. Bulls of Addison, Glasa Wave of Libertyville, the Chicago Sky Hawks, and tournament hosts the LWSRA Rolling Falcons.

Concessions, raffle opportunities, and souvenir books will be available at the tournament. If anyone is interested in joining a wheelchair basketball team it is open to anyone with a low level physical impairment.
