L-W East Orchesis Troupe Prepares for Valentine-themed Performance

Area residents are in for a real treat as dance students at Lincoln-Way East High School are preparing for a Valentine-themed performance Feb. 3 and 4 at the school.

“We have a very talented group of girls this year,” said Julie Widinski, the Orchesis director at Lincoln-Way East. “Their dedication and hard work have produced a very entertaining show.”

Students have been preparing for the 7 p.m. performance for several weeks and plan to feature a cornucopia of dance styles centered around a Valentine’s theme. They have titled their show “For the Love of Dance.”

“We have selected love songs from the ‘60s, ‘70s, ‘80s and today,” said Widinski. “The dancers will perform all styles of dance from hip hop to ballet.”

Orchesis is a dance organization that gives students with a strong desire and talent to dance the opportunity of expressive movement through the art of dance performance. The goal is to educate and strengthen the appreciation of dance as an art form.
