The District 157-C Family School Partnership (FSP) organization will host “Holidays Around the World” to celebrate the winter season and traditions from around the world. The program reinforces the Grand Prairie Elementary School pre-kindergarten through second grade multi-disciplinary program on cultural awareness at the school.
The “Holidays Around the World” program will be held for District 157-C families on Thursday, December 13, 5:30 – 7:30 PM at Grand Prairie School, 10482 W. Nebraska Street. Families will have the opportunity to learn more about traditions around the world through presentations by volunteer families about their own cultural traditions. There will also be winter-themed games and a bounce house for the children. A disk jockey will provide winter music, games, a sing-along and trivia contests. In addition, children can create a craft to take home and make an ornament for the FSP holiday tree. Hot chocolate and smoothies will be available from NuVibe Smoothies and pizza will be available from Tony’s Villa Rosa.
During the event, Jenny’s Penguin Patch Holiday Shoppe will be open for the children’s holiday shopping. There will be 100 different gifts for the children to purchase at a cost from 25-cents to $10 each. The children will also be able to purchase gifts during school hours with their classrooms on December 11, 12 and 13. A portion of the proceeds from each vendor will be returned back to the FSP to support its programs for the children.
