Italian Beef at Frankfort Meats and Deli
I always forget that Frankfort Meats and Deli isn't simply a great shop to buy pork chops, steaks and other cuts. The place also has some mean sandwiches. I ordered the Italian beef—topped with mozzarella—and it was quite the lunch offering. The beef was cooked perfectly, and the au jus was a tasty touch. And make sure you're hungry, because it is one, big sandwich.

How could you not include Enricos in the Frankfort section??? They have been serving the best Italian beef in the area since the 1970s!!

I'm with Dottie, how could you leave Enricos off the list? There is no one better than them in Frankfort. Two Gyros places make the list, but not Enricos. Very disappointing Joe. Go get a beef sandwich and realize the failure in this list. I'll even buy the sandwich for you.

Absolutely, Tracy! No one fixes them with the grilled garlic bread the way Enricos does. Yum!

Whoops. Enrico's has been added. And you thought the "Are we missing any? Tell us in the comments section" bit was just space-filler. :)

Homer Glen, IL 60491
Original Mr Beef

Chicago is known for pizza, hot dogs, and beef sandwiches. You can argue on who has the best pizza and hot dogs but when it comes to the best beef sandwich, the Original Mr. Beef wins hands down.

I've had Duke's in Bridgeport,IL ,Al's Beef,Mr. Beef on Orleans,Mr. Beef on Harlem and many other beef stands in Chicago and suburbs but this is my favorite.

The beef is always sliced thin, no fat or gristle, and served on good french bread. The juice has the right amount of spices. They have good hot and mild peppers served on the side or on your sandwich.

Pop's in Mokena is simply the best. They cook their own beef from scratch. No pre-bought stuff like scalas or papa charlies. Top it off with their homemade Hot Mix and dip it, and there isnt any better!!!

In Frankfort, my top picks for Italian Beef Sandwiches would be Kismet's, Rosie's then Brown's Chicken!

From those listed, Badda Bing has a decent beef. Pizza Mia also typically has good beef. Pops is okay as well. However, I'm most a fan of Fox's beef :)

"Enrico's" has my vote.... the best beef ever on a large toasted garlic bread with sweet peppers, melted mozzarella and a side of their delicious au jus and some pepperoncini's and then I am a happy camper!!!!

I am beyond thrilled that Portillo's is coming to New Lenox this fall!!!!!

Although I'm from New Lenox I make the drive out to Mokena's Pop's for a good beef sandwich. So they have my vote. However, if I don't feel like making the drive Ranch Frosties has darn good beef. I recommend it ;)

In New Lenox...It's Badda Bings. Great for catering as well!
In Mokena...Pop's (I think they use sourdough bread which adds to the flavor)
