Walk to Honor Patrick Mizwicki to be Held Tonight

A memorial event will continue the route the L-W East freshman was running before he was struck by a car and killed.

A memorial walk to honor Patrick Mizwick, the Lincoln-Way East High School freshman who was killed after being struck by a car last week, will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. today near the Cook County forest preserves where Mizwicki died.

Called Finish Pat's Path, the event will travel the same route in unincoprated Palos Township that Mizwicki, a member of East's cross-country team, was running when the New Lenox 14-year-old was hit by the car. The walk will start at Teason Woods Pavilion at the corner of Calumet Sag Road and 104th Avenue.

Attendees are asked to arrive before 5:45 p.m. because 104th Avenue will be closed off by police between Route 83 and 123rd Street, according to the event's Facebook page. The walk will begin at 6 p.m., and people are encouraged to wear blue, the school colors for L-W East, as well as the team colors for the Frankfort Falcons baseball team Mizwicki participated on.
