Village Sales Tax Earnings for October See Increase

- Sales tax revenue for October 2011 was $368,419, up from $358,162 for the same time in 2010, Mayor Jim Holland announced at Monday's Village Board meeting. This keeps the village on track to meet its 2011 budget projection for of $4.29 million sales tax revenue, Holland said.
- Fiancee Couture, a new bridal shop at 53 Old Frankfort Way, will hold its grand opening from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10. The new business, which sells one-of-a-kind wedding gowns and luxury lingerie, will have an open house and fashion show, as well as serve refreshments.
- Two LaGrange Road businesses paid fines to the village for recently selling tobacco to minors, said Frankfort community relations manager Mary Canino. The owners of Cardinal Liquors and Tobacco House met with Mayor Jim Holland village attorney Geroge Mahoney last week to discuss the status of their licenses after two recent and separate incidents. The owners must pay $300 fines each, and all their employees must go through state certification training, Canino added.
- Evilena's Red Dresser has new hours starting this week. The upscale, home decor consignment shop is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
