Rash of Car Burglaries Hits Mokena
Police have three suspects in the break-ins on Adare, Foxford and Waterford, but no charges yet.
Several Mokena residents reported car burglaries between Sept. 21 and Sept. 23, with most of the burglaries occurring in the overnight hours of Sept. 23 to Sept. 24.
Eight burglaries were reported from vehicles parked in the 19500 block of Adare Avenue, 19500 block of Foxford Lane, the 9000 block of Adare Avenue, the 19300 block of Foxford Lane, and the 19400 block of Waterford Lane. In all cases involving stolen property, the burglarized vehicles were left unlocked, according to reports. Cash, GPS devices, Oakley sunglasses, an iPod and CDs were among the items stolen, according to the reports.
In one case, the unlocked vehicle was entered, but the glove box was locked and nothing was stolen, police said. In another case, one car was locked, but the thieves tried to gain entry by breaking the passenger door lock, Mokena Police said.
Several other burglaries occurred in unincorporated Mokena and Frankfort Square, and the Will County Sheriff's Police are investigating them, Mokena police said.
Police currently have three suspects in the case, but charges are pending further investigation, police said.
Most of the stolen property has been recovered, police said.
