Melrose Park Man Caught With Fake Prescription
Rocco C. Longo, 29, of the 1500 block of North 19th Avenue in Melrose Park, was charged with felony counts of forgery and obtaining an illegal substance by fraud after trying to fill a fake painkiller prescription, according to reports.
A pharmacist at Walgreen's in the 7200 block of Lincoln Highway called Frankfort Police a little before 5 p.m. after Longo dropped off a prescription for the opioid analgesic Norco that the pharmacist thought was fraudulent, said Cmdr. Kevin Keegan. The pharmacist called the doctor on the prescription and confirmed he didn't write it and that the name and birthdate Longo gave were false, Keegan said, adding that Longo told the pharmacist he would have proper ID when he came back to pick up the prescription.

Longo returned to Walgreen's at about 5:30 p.m., and officers were called back to the scene, Keegan said. When questioned by officers, Longo said he was buying the painkiller under a ficticious name for a friend named "Ed," who was going to pay Longo $25 to $50 for the Norco, Keegan added. Longo also claimed "Ed" had driven him to the drug store, but police were unable to find a vehicle matching Longo's description in the pharmacy's parking lot, Keegan said.
Longo was arrested and booked in to Will County Jail. He has a preliminary hearing Feb. 21, according to court records. Frankfort officers also passed along information from this case to Palos Park Police, who are investigating a similar incident, Keegan said.
