L-W North Baseball Marching to a Winning Beat

Phoenix have lost just five times in their last 45 games.

If anyone was expecting a letdown from the Lincoln-Way North baseball team this summer, it simply hasn’t happened. While the Phoenix lost several standouts, including Alex Eaton, A.J. Neufeld and Jake Harper, their absence has created opportunities for several players who have stepped up to help the Phoenix to a 10-1 record through July 1.

After a 30-4 spring season, the Phoenix varsity program has now posted an impressive 40-5 record.

The Phoenix blasted Bradley-Bourbonnais 12-2 on Monday behind three hits apiece from Mike Irace and Carter Bialka and a double from Dominic Hartman. Joe Cairo and Mike Miller shared time on the mound and slowed the bats of Bradley-Bourbonnais.

Patteson Shines in Collegiate League

Lincoln-Way East graduate Robert Patteson is hitting .318 through the first 18 games of the season for the Southland Vikings of the Midwest Collegiate League. The 20-year-old hit safely in his first eight games and has now scored 11 runs and has nine RBIs. As you may recall, Patteson was the MVP of the 2008 State Summer League championship at Lincoln-Way East.

L-W East in Search of Perfect Dozen

The Lincoln-Way East football team will be shooting for its 12th consecutive playoff appearance in as many tries when it travels to Illinois State University in Normal to play Edwardsville in August. With a strong list of returning players, the Griffins are expecting another excellent season.
