Former Governor Under House Arrest Spotted at Francesca's Fortunato

George Ryan left his house in Kankakee on Sunday to dine out in Frankfort.

Former Illinois Governor George Ryan was seen Sunday dining at Francesca's Fortunato in downtown Frankfort, according to a report from WLS-TV.

The former governor is currently under house arrest serving a corruption sentence. Ryan’s home is located 31 miles from Frankfort, in Kankakee.

Ryan’s attorney, former Governor James Thompson, told WLS-TV that Ryan was taking advantage of a probation department rule allowing low-risk prisoners to visit public places on weekends. However, Kristine Phillips, a chief probation officer for the northern district of Illinois, said that such arrangements can only be made on a prisoner-to-prisoner basis.

For details, check out the original report on WLS-TV's website.

Old George- back to his old tricks, never could follow the rules. Those are for 'little people'. The old crook ought to be in the half-way house, but he's too good for that.

Typical crook politician. He feels he's above the law and can do what he wants. They should send him back and add more time to his incarceration!!!

So I guess I am the only person who read the whole article. If the judge OK'd it, nothing wrong with it.

No I read it to and it seems to I indicate that he may not have had permission. Either way he should still be rotting in jail.

George is SUPPOSED to be in the halfway house, but Old Jim Thompson got him sent home to Kankakee to relax at home. George couldn't resist a little pasta marinara and a tipple, so he boogied on over to Frankfort.

I'm sure old Jim will get him permission for that special night out.

All men are created equally in the eyes of the law, depending on resources.
