Downtown Frankfort business Chew on This Dog Barkery was recently recognized for its customer service and community involvement with an award from the American Pet Products Association and Pet Industry Distributors Association, according to a press release from Chew on This.

“We are very proud of this award,” said owner Teresa Kara, who was honored last month at Global Pet Expo 2013 in Orlando, Florida. “I have an incredible staff and we have the best customers around.”

Chew on This was selected for the Customer Service Excellence Award in part because of its work with local animal shelters. Kara often gives food, toys and accessories to the South Suburban Humane Society. She has also hosted in-store adoption events and organized humane society donation drives.

Kara and company’s latest community project will take place at the end of the month. Chew on This will sponsor the Annual Super Dog Easter Egg Hunt March 23 at Commissioners Park Bark Park, where dogs will hunt for 1,000 eggs, each of which will be filled with a treat from the barkery.
