Each year during National Nursing Home Week, area “celebrities” become Celebrity Scoopers at Sunny Hill Nursing Home of Will County, the County-owned facility in Joliet. They take the place of the volunteers who usually keep The Sweet Shoppe open.
Celebrities scheduled to serve ice cream this year were Will County Executive Larry Walsh, State Rep. Larry Walsh Jr., Joliet Mayor Tom Giarrante, Will County Board member Don Gould and Steve Brandy from 1340-AM, WJOL. National Nursing Home Week always begins on Mother’s Day.
