The Nicor Gas Energy Efficiency Program is offering financial
rebates to customers who install qualifying natural gas-saving products, including furnaces, boilers, water heaters and steam traps.
The program also offers financial rebates to customers who develop a customized natural gas reduction plan for their business.
The service is available to both residential and non-residential customers.
“Spring is an optimal time for businesses to install new energy efficient equipment that will help them save money and reduce their operating costs all year long,” said Kevin Kirby, Vice
President of Customer Care for Nicor Gas.
“In addition to the cost savings benefits, this program is making it easier for our customers to use less energy, helping them ensure a more environmentally responsible business and workplace.”
Non-residential customers served on rates 4 and 74 that have already participated in the program include restaurants, shops, government offices, places of worship, apartment buildings, nonprofit organizations, and manufacturing facilities, among others.
“These days, any break a business can get on operating costs is a plus – and thanks to the installation of our new high-efficiency furnace – we look forward to seeing a reduction in our
overall natural gas costs for years to come,” said Deanna Tiberi, of Ann E. Mazzotti, D.D.S., P.C. & Associates in Homewood. “The rebate from the Nicor Gas Energy Efficiency Program was
great because it made the upfront cost of a furnace more affordable for a local business like ours.”
In addition to reduced energy costs, installing energy efficiency upgrades can improve building system operating effectiveness, which can yield a more comfortable indoor environment for
employees and customers.
“The Nicor Gas Energy Efficiency Program has been a great incentive for our customers to ‘go green,’” said Lee Hoekstra, of Hoekstra Heating & Air Conditioning in Homewood. “Family businesses like ours are really benefiting from the program as more and more people see both the financial and ecological advantages of upgrading to more cost-effective natural gas equipment.”
More than 100 non-residential customers across Illinois have already taken advantage of the program. To date, Nicor Gas has issued more than $450,000 in rebates to non-residential customers – and additional funds are available until May 31.
