L-W East and L-W North Poms Compete at State
The Lincoln-Way East and Lincoln-Way North Poms took their award-winning routines to State this past weekend, finishing in the Top 10 of their divisions.
“We had a great team this year that worked really well together and had goals set to achieve,” said Lincoln-Way North Poms Coach Monica Bozek.
“This season has been truly a great one for the whole squad,” said Lincoln-Way East Poms Coach Maria Gaytan. “The team was a very talented bunch of young ladies, and they all worked hard to achieve the goals we set in the beginning of the season.”
Lincoln-Way East’s Poms competed in the Class AAA division and captured 6th in Hip Hop and 11th in Poms.
Lincoln-Way North’s Poms competed in the Class AA division and took 9th place overall.
Lincoln-Way North co-captains are Jill Candos and Miranda Thomaston. Team members include: Alicia Bennett, Stephanie Hinkleman, Amy Dennis, Julianne Dennis, Brooke Kirschsieper, Haley Collins, Katie Bakouris, Kendal Sykes, Casey Houlihan, Jordin Richards, Brooke Alba, Kaitlyn Martin, Bailey Stremlau, Colleen Laughlin, Natassja Medez and Danielle Ward.
Lincoln-Way East’s co-captains are Elise Bicek and Molly Imgruet. Team members include: Heather Bauer, Breanna Berg, Ali Dwyer, Tara Galovich, Alison Golden, Jill Hickey, Alex Kirchhoff, Amy Krupecki, Julia Lange, Arianna Luther, Breanna Magnuson, Shannon Merrion, Nicolle Miskowicz, Kelsie Neary, Emily Pomorski, Caitlyn Smith, Kaitlin Raven, Shannon Roth, Kyleigh Seibert, Brittany Stepanek and Jess Vorderer.
In addition to placing 6th in Hip Hop and 11th in Poms, the Lincoln-Way East Poms squad was also one of 21 teams to be nominated for the TDI True Colors Sportsmanship award. They were selected from 275 teams at State.
Even though East did not win the award, “it was an honor to be recognized by the other teams, coaches, parents and fans who could nominate us,” said Gaytan.
