Cars line up to dispose of unwanted household hazardous wastes at the GR2012 Sustainability Fair at Joliet Junior College’s main campus on May 19. In all, 479 vehicles dropped off hazardous wastes from 508 households, giving residents an opportunity to properly dispose of unwanted chemicals and hazardous wastes that may have otherwise polluted the environment due to improper handling or disposal. Hundreds of people participated in the Household Hazardous Waste collection on May 19. The collection was held during the GR2012 Sustainability Fair at Joliet Junior College’s main campus. The Household Hazardous Waste Collection and the adjoining Recyclepalooza, which offered recycling options for a variety of items, were sponsored by the Will County Land Use Department as part of the Fair.
